On Tuesday 20th July, Louise Casey delivered her inaugural speech as the first Commissioner for Victims and Witnesses.
Her speech marked the publication of the Commission’s first report, The poor relation – victims in the criminal justice system, which sets out Louise’s early impressions of how victims are treated by the system, and to what extent previous pledges to put victims ‘at the heart of the criminal justice system’ are a reality, both for those who experience crime and for the public services which dispense criminal justice today.
You can download a copy of the report and a copy of Louise’s inaugural speech here.
The RSA website currently offers the opportunity for you to hear an audio recording of Louise’s speech here, and within the next week will additionally offer a video recording.
