The Neighbourhood and Home Watch Network are launching a project which aims to showcase the achievements of local groups. 

Case studies from the various regions of the country will be selected from nominations by the NHWN Regional Representatives.  It is hoped that by showcasing these achievements other groups can learn from their experience and knowledge. Details of these achievements will then be displayed on the NHWN website and presented at the NHWN conferences  being planned in January and February 2010.

There are four areas within which the NHWN is seeking to develop and the case studies will relate to one of these areas:

1.      Local Neighbourhood and Home Watch groups that have increased the diversity of their membership (e.g. younger people, people from different ethnic backgrounds, non-homeowners etc.).

2.      Local groups that have been established in new areas / communities where Neighbourhood and Home Watch has not previously existed (e.g. inner city, areas of deprivation).

3.      Local groups that have influence in local policy and decision-making processes at any level (e.g. engaging with local Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships)

4.      Local groups that have partnerships with other local organisations or have expanded beyond traditional network activities (e.g. co-ordinating visiting services for the less mobile / more vulnerable)

We know that there is brilliant work happening across England and Wales, and by highlighting this good practice we want to inspire other groups and show the movement’s potential.
