A year after Google launched Street View for many parts of Britain, the service is finally going live in Leicestershire.
The internet giant has sent its camera cars along every public road in the county, collecting photos which it has turned into 360-degree pictures online. The images show homes, shops and takeaways, street signs, landmarks and football grounds.

Ringmaster crime alert system scrapped in South Nottinghamshire

Warning after distraction burglars claim to be police officers in Leicester City

Elderly residents in Leicester are being warned following a series of distraction burglaries by two men claiming to be police officers.
Four distraction burglaries were reported to police in the city during the evening of Wednesday February 10. In each case two men gained access to the home by pretending to be police officers.

Police Coordinate Four-Force Crackdown on Acquisitive Crime and ASB

Last night, Leicestershire Constabulary combined the strength of four police Forces in a countywide crackdown on serious acquisitive crime and anti social behaviour (ASB). Over 200 officers were involved in the latest phase of Operation Consequence designed to patrol known ASB hotspots and areas hardest hit by serious acquisitive crime such as robbery, burglary and vehicle crime.

Distraction burglaries are crimes where a bogus caller cons their way into the home of someone elderly or vulnerable in order to steal cash and valuables.
