New Watch Schemes in Watford
South East
Friday 25 June 2010

Residents in central Watford, fed up with crime and anti-social behaviour, have set up three new neighbourhood watch schemes.
Homeowners in Smith Street, The Crescent and Granville Road, founded the groups after meeting at a fast food restaurant earlier in the month.
Of particular concern is the level of crime and anti-social behaviour at the old Watford Springs site.
Members of the scheme will work with community police officer Sergeant Dan Stoddart to report incidents on-line and by telephone.
Sergeant Stoddart said: "We are very excited to have three new watches in the town centre. The neighbourhood watch is all about building a safer community. A good neighbourhood watch is not about twitching curtains and nosey neighbours. It is about local people taking responsibility for their street, and that responsibility will lead to a sense of greater security.
“It is also about residents looking after each other and building better communities
