But there are also those who work tirelessly behind the scenes, often without recognition, who make a difference to people's lives every day. For the first time, the Reporter Series is celebrating all those people through its Local Heroes awards. The Batley and Birstall News invites its readers to nominate the people who they would like to see rewarded.

Eddie Girdham of the Grange Lane South group has helped create a booklet and accompanying disc which focuses on how teenagers and adults often misunderstand each other.
