Chief Constable Frank Whiteley Statement
As the Police Service lead for Neighbourhood and other Watch issues I am pleased to be asked to offer my support to the Neighbourhood and Homewatch Network (NHWN) website.
No-one is more aware of the need for the Watch movement to have a voice locally as well as at force, regionally and nationally and I am delighted to be able to assist the movement in bringing about the representative structure which exists now. However, it is all very well having the structure but we must never forget that NHW works best on the ground and that successful communications are the lifeblood of the relationship between the movement and the Police.
With this in mind I wish Marion Lewis, the Chairperson of NHWN, and her team every success with this new website.
Finally, NHW and Homewatch members have a lot to contribute to help ensure their communities are safe and feel safer. The completion of the national roll out of Neighbourhood Policing Teams across England and Wales offers more opportunities than ever before for NHW and Homewatch members and the Police to work together to promote safety in local neighbourhoods. Details of your local Neighbourhood Officer can be found on your local Police Force website. I also believe information contained on this website can further assist NHW and Homewatch members in continuing to make a positive contribution.
Both myself and the Police Service thank you for your continued support.
Best wishes.
